We’re incredibly grateful to Horse Country, as well as the many other businesses and organizations who have allowed us to attend farm tours around Lexington, KY. These experiences allow members to explore some of Kentucky’s most prominent farms, learn about their history and influence, and meet the stallions that shape the modern racing industry.

Keeneland Trackside x Airdrie Stud Tour
Saturday, October 25, 2025
Members were invited by First Rodeo Racing to visit one of the leading thoroughbred farms, Airdrie Stud. Home to some of the biggest stallion names such as Mage, Jonathan’s Way, and Mystik Dan, members got to see these world renowned stallions that make the magic happen! Afterwards, members ventured to Keeneland to watch some races. Thank you First Rodeo Racing!

Taylor Made Farm

Members got to visit Taylor Made Farm to learn more about thoroughbred sales, marketing, and horse care. Taylor Made Farm gave members insight into managing stallions, yearlings, foals, and how they promote their racehorses on social media. Established in 1976, members got to learn about Taylor Made’s growth and how they have expanded into the national brand it is today.

Spendthrift Farm

Members were able to come face to face with world-renowned stallions such as Into Mischief, Authentic, Vekoma, Dornoch, Omaha Beach, and Vino Rosso. Members learned the history of many iconic thoroughbred names and their careers. Home of the number one general sire, Into Mischief, this was a great experience for members to learn about stallion management and their bookings.

Lane's End Farm

Members toured Lane’s End Farm’s and learned about the history of the farm and the stallions who stand at stud there. Members were able to meet renowned stallions such as Flightline, Honor A.P., Senor Buscador, City of Light, and Quality Road.

Gainesway Farm - Stallion Complex

Members had the opportunity to visit Gainesway Farm, a thoroughbred breeding farm that sits on over 1,500 acres. Members were able to meet world-renowned stallion, Tapit, alongside other incredible stallions such as Muth, Seize the Grey, and Tapit Trice.

WinStar Farm - Stallion Complex
Monday, April 14, 2025
WinStar Farm opened their gates for members to tour their stallion complex. With stallions such as Cogburn, Life is Good, Constitution, and Country Grammer. Members got to see what kind of team it takes to handle the high volumes of stallion bookings and the management that comes with it.

Three Chimneys - Broodmare Division

Three Chimney’s Farm has maintained influence in the thoroughbred industry for over 40 years. Members were able to take a tour on the breeding division of the farm, where they learned about the management of broodmares. The birthplace of numerous Grade 1 winners, members got a look at what it takes to raise champions, and all of the behind-the-scenes work that occurs before it.

Coolmore-Ashford Stud

Coolmore-Ashford Stud opened its doors for members who got to learn about what a stallion's schedule looks like in and out of breeding season. Home to 17 stallions, including American Pharaoh and Justify, Coolmore knows what it takes regarding stud fees, scheduling mares, and the high demand that comes with it, to run their operation.

Gainsborough Farm

Members were able to visit Gainsborough Farm, which is the broodmare division of the global thoroughbred operation, Godolphin. Members received insight into breeding and raising thoroughbred foals. Gainsborough Farm is the birthplace of the 2024 Kentucky Derby winner, Soveriegnty! Members also got to meet mares such as Dance Card (dam of Cody’s Wish) and Delightful Quality (dam of Essential Quality)!

One of the leading consignors of yearlings, weanlings, and broodmares at auctions across New York and Kentucky, members got a peek into their broodmare operation during the height of foaling season.

Hagyard Equine Medical Institute

Members were able to visit the oldest and largest private equine veterinary practice! Members got to learn about patient care, collegiate opportunities, and research efforts. Offering emergency services, imaging, surgeries, ophthalmology, reproduction, and lameness examinations, members got insight into what it takes to manage such a large veterinary facility and the amount of patients that come through on a daily basis.

Magdalena Farm

World-renowned horse trainer Kenny McPeek calls Magdalena Farm home! The farm has a turf gallop, extra large stalls, and large paddocks for race horse trainees. Magdalena Farm emphasizes mental and physical stimulation for their horses, allowing members to see the flow of keeping up with horses from conception to racing.

Spendthrift Farm

Spendthrift Farm provided members with insight to stallion management, care, and daily upkeep of farm and staff management. Managing a large operation takes a village, and Spendthrift manages such a high volume at an admirable rate. Members got to meet world renowned stallions, learn how they show stallions, and heard about the process of stud fees and how they are set and applied.

WinStar Farm - Training Center

Members had the opportunity to visit the world renowned WinStar Farm Training Center, equipped with their own dirt training track, starting gates, and clocker stand. Members witnessed the high volume of clientele they manage, as well as the rehabilitation equipment they have, such as an underwater aquatred, saltwater spa, hyperbaric chamber, and a theraplate. Members got a peek into what it takes to train a racehorse, the facilities it requires, and the upkeep that comes with it.

Keeneland Sales Pavillion

Members got a look into the world leader of thoroughbred sales; where some of the world’s most prestigious thoroughbred racehorses are auctioned off. Members got to see the global reach and industry connections that come from the various sales that pass through Keeneland. With an emphasis in hospitality, management, and equine care, Keeneland prides itself on its values and beliefs, allowing members to understand the attention to detail that goes into a day at the sales. Members got insights into internship, ambassador, and employment opportunities within Keeneland, and how they can get involved in such a valuable part of the industry.
